version 30. overhauled.


hey gang! here’s our last update before submitting to PIGSquad’s “finish your game“ jam. this one is major, with several main features and quality of life additions. 

oh but first, a shoutout to the rest of the flickshot team: tony (@saucyfaucet) and adam (@waveparadigm) have both provided crucial work and talent to the project, and flickshot wouldn't be what it is without them!

additions.

  • flickshot now has a title menu.
    • rounds now have a score limit, adjustable in the play > settings menu.
    • settings page includes screenshake adjustment, rumble toggle, and music toggle.
    • stage select screen allows for disabling certain stages.
    • before a match, players must press A to sign in.
    • credits page.
  • @waveparadigm did a ton of work under the hood to enable the menu system and faster iteration.
  • new UI element attached to the player that indicates whether or not the player is able to parry or dodge.
  • new stage: "washer".
  • "jaw" stage reworked.
  • "crush" stage now has flat bumpers in the corners.
  • a new song by @saucyfaucet (and more to come!)
  • new end of round quip font.
  • end of round quip total: 650 and counting.

bugfixes.

  • the player no longer has a small chance to lose all momentum instead of bouncing off a wall.
  • disconnecting and reconnecting controllers should now behave as expected. on controller disconnect, the disconnected player will go intangible until reconnected, and display a "disconnected" icon near their health UI.

future.

we have big plans for future flickshot features. we’re including an item system, an entirely new original soundtrack by @saucyfaucet with dynamic elements that react to the hypest moments of gameplay, and much more. stay tuned for new versions—flickshot is a daily labor of love and you never know when the next update might drop!
